Weston and Weedon Lois

Difficulty: Average
Distance: 27.4 miles / 44.1 km

A nice route heading out of Brackley along Halse Road, through Greatworth before reaching Weston and Weedon Lois. A couple of steep sections but some nice smaller roads through the countryside.

Directions

  • From the leisure centre, turn left onto Pavillons Way and head up the hill
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto Halse Road
  • Continue out of Brackley, and through Halse, up the hill and back down again. Follow the road round the corners at the bottom of the hill and the road will start going downhill again.
  • Look out for the road on the right to Greatworth and turn down it. Follow the road along through Greatworth. Once out of the village the road bears round to the right
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto the Welsh Lane, before taking the next right to head towards Sulgrave
  • At the fork join the main road, heading towards Canons Ashby
  • After a mile or so, look out for the cross roads and turn right onto Banbury Lane and continue into Weston
  • Continue on the road through Weedon Lois, following the road to the right after the village and heading towards Wappenham
  • In Wappenham, follow the road round to the right, joining the main road, but turn right before you leave the village, onto the small road signposted for Syresham
  • There is quite a steep hill here but luckily it’s not too long. Continue along the single track road and it will take you into Syresham, near the Church
  • Continue through Syresham and up the hill towards the school, turning left at the end. Follow the road out of Syresham, before it joins up with the old main road
  • Turn right and then immediately left onto Biddlesden Road
  • Continue through Biddlesden before heading downhill and back up again. At the fork, take the road to Westbury, where the road will eventually dip bown before rising up into Westbury village
  • Ride into Westbury and cross over the main road to carry on through the other side of Westbury and continue for a mile or so
  • Take the fork on the right to head towards Mixbury. Ride along through the farmers field before turning right and into Mixbury
  • In Mixbury, follow the road to the right and head into Evenley
  • Once through Evenley, take the cycle path on the right hand side, before the roundabout, and head downhill back towards Brackley
  • Use the crossing to cross the dual carriageway and head along the Brackley bypass (A442) in the direction of Banbury
  • At the roundabout, turn right to head back into Brackley, then turn left onto Pavillons Way and back to the Leisure Centre

Places To Stop

  • The Kings Head in Syresham
  • The Red Lion in Evenley has a few tables out the front, as well as a nice pub garden
  • With a small detour you can stop at the Flight Deck Cafe in Turweston Aerodrome
